2012 AUSTRALIAN SPEEDCAR CHAMPIONSHIP
The
2012 Australian Speedcar Championship is shaping up as one
of the most closely contested titles for some years. Two
Kiwis will take on Australia’s best and a string of young
guns keen to take the spoils when they assemble in
Maryborough to do battle on 16/17 March.
Dave "Blingy"
Muir Comes Out On Top
Dave Muir has taken out the 30 lap sprintcar A-main last
night after a hectic feature race. Muir has been on fire all
season and added another feature race win to this season
collection. He was Top qualifier before going into the dash
where he was defeated by Brent Aprile, but it was all Dave
Muir in the feature with Brent Aprile and Andrew Scheuerle
rounded out the top three. Peter Lack was a man on a mission
after blowing and engine in his last heat, the team changed
motors and he was back out in the a main but failed to
finish due to a flat tyre.

Saturday night
We have a
field of 23 cars nominated including the top 4 in our club
championship being Q18 David “Blingy” Muir, all of 22 years
of age, and winner of three feature races already this
season.He
is joined by NQ83 Bryan Mann, Q25 Andrew Scheuerle and Q59
Kevin Titman. Adding spice to the field are Q2 Todd Wanless
a dominant driver for many seasons along with Q58 Peter
Lack, Q75 Darren Jensen and former touring car driver Q67
Paul Morris. Joining these guys will be a host of other top
drivers racing these 850 horse powered beasts.
Feb
18th - V8 Sprintcars will be back at Maryborough Speedway.
Also on the
program is ASCF Juniors , will kick off the racing at 4pm
and the juniors should be done by 7pm.
Street Sedans will be back out on the track for their
Shootout ! For information for the Kingfisher

download the information. Nominations close Feb 12th @ 4pm.

Kurt Wilson wins "Col's Fibreglass King of Australia "
Not only did Kurt Wilson win in the 4 cylinders this
weekend, but Darryn Collins has broken the 1 lap track
record which was held by Blake Hancock since 2009 .

Aiden Raymont & Mark Raymont started front row for the
"Kingfisher Bay Resort Modified Production Aussie Open - A
Main " . Aiden led the entire race and took the chequered
flag , with Mark Raymont finishing in 2nd & David Jacobi for
3rd , 4th Peter Gray & 5th Brendan Kennedy !

The drivers and crews are
filling the pits already . Tonight's program will start at
4pm with an early finish at approx 9 - 930pm. Tonight racing
is the Modified Productions , 4 cylinders & Street Sedans.
There is no fireworks at all this weekend. After racing
finishes we will be turning it up , with the live band
playing to bring us in for the new year ! Pack the kids ,
pack ya chairs (unless you would like to sit on the
grandstand) and come watch the best of the best , battle it
out over tonight & tomorrow night.
Tomorrow night , we start at 4pm with a finish around
10.30pm.
Gate prices are as follow for
tonight's racing :
$25 adult , $20 pensioner , Students $15 (ages 13-17) ,
Family pass $65 - 2 adults plus 2 kids (aged from 13-17) all
kids under 12 are FREE - accompanied by an adult .

Maryborough Speedway's own - Win's "Think Money" - Super Sam

Sam
Grundy wins Think Money Development Series last night at
Maryborough Speedway in his first season of super sedan
racing. Early in the afternoon, Sam was out on the infield
working his tilt tray, while his father (Barry Grundy)
scruitineer's and prep's his car for his son Sam for the big
super sedan meet.
Sam raced at Gympie a few weeks ago and finished 2nd in the
development series. A big congrats to Sam & Barry on their
win last night from everyone at Maryborough Sporting Car
Club.
